4 words ("happy birthday to you") and most common expression is
a verb followed by "it," as in "push it, get it, sing it (when
she wants a cd on), pick it (for pick it up)" When I first saw the rash,
I said "could it be chicken
pox?" Then later, when we were trying to diagnose it, she told us, "it's

2002: Happy 1st Birthday Sadie!!
Sadie is walking really well now and usually doesn't crawl, unless
she's in a big hurry (like when the cat is trying to get away). She
is starting to play with toys the "right" way, like putting
balls into a sorter, sticking bath toys to the wall, stacking blocks,
etc. Sadie knows which book she wants you to read to her and will
bring it to you to read it. She is not a champion eater, but that
is probably because she wants to eat "big people" food,
not that baby food, but just doesn't have the teeth for it yet. Sadie's
words are: bye, ma, da, wow, hi, and bah (for bottle), and it sounds
like she's working on a ke sound for the kitties.
December 13, 2002: 3rd tooth (top front right)
poked through. Walking is getting better and better; Sadie is starting to
walk more than she crawls.
December 7, 2002: 2nd bottom front tooth has

September 15, 2002: David swears he heard Sadie say "bye-bye"
after he said it to someone in the park....
September 6, 2002: Sadie has been clapping for about a
week, and now waves bye-bye by curling her hand and opening it. She is fascinated
by both of these things, and just stares at her hands while she does it. David
thinks she is saying "da-da" and meaning it. Meanwhile, she has
taken about a 10-day hiatus from "ma-ma"
August 20, 2002: Sadie has started saying "ma-ma"
- and she seems to mean it. She looks squarely at mama when she wants fed
or comforted and exclaims "ma-ma!" Also, Sadie greets Sara at the
door by crawling out of her room with a big "MAM!". She also initiates
games of peek-a-boo.
August 7, 2002: Sadie has been crawling forward for about
a week. She is getting better at it (no longer goes backwards!) and is starting
to follow us out of the room if we leave! Today, Sadie started babbling in
syllables (ya-ya-ya, ba-ba-ba, and David's favorite, da-da-da). Her earlier
vocalizations were like long groans, high-pitched-chirps, coughs, yelling

was very excited about it. Sadie can also get herself to sitting from lying
July 24, 2002: Sadie has been pulling
up to standing for about a week. She creeps around every which way, but
still can't crawl forward! We are switching to the size 3 diapers (has been
in size 2 since about age 3 months). Sadie's favorite (and only) foods are
cereal (rice or oatmeal) with pureed carrots or carrot juice and apple sauce.
She also likes to suck on lemons, teething biscuits, and bits of bread.
June 23, 2002: Sadie is getting up on all
fours (hands and toes). She'll be crawling soon!
June 17, 2002: Sadie's 6-month
checkup. Sadie is sitting on her own and can pull to standing from sitting
(on a lap). She is making a mighty effort to crawl, but just hasn't figured
it out yet. She is still not enthusiastic about solid food, but has tried
prunes, sweet potato, carrots, squash, and apricot and sucked on a lemon wedge.
She likes to drink water from a cup - but not a sippy cup, she wants what
mommy is drinking out of. Stats:

in the baby pool.

witness it (we find her in the crib on her tummy sometimes).

all is fine!

Hospital (located two blocks from our home

The sonogram also reveals that the baby is at 10 weeks and 2 days, while clinical
data suggests 9 weeks and 6 days. Due date is estimated around December 18
- 21, 2001, a Hannukah baby. The baby's
heart-rate is perfect at 179 bpm.
April 27, 2001: Sara's home EPT test reveals some interesting news...
